Ancient Hippies

Ancient HippiesHippies don’t quite fit in.  They’re counter-cultural.  They speak truth to power. They’re a little crazy or weird. Sometimes they offend our sensibilities. That’s the 1970s variety.  The ancient variety is a called a prophet.  Join us Sundays at Lansing Christian School, 9.30 or 11.15AM and Mondays at Grumpy’s Diner, 7.00PM, as we spend four weeks exploring four ancient hippies in the Bible: Micah, Amos, Jonah, and Hosea. You’re sure to be challenged, encouraged, maybe even a little offended by these four radical ancient hippies!

November 11/12 – Amos  (Guest Preacher: Mark Aupperlee)
November 18/19 – Jonah
November 25/26 – Hosea (Guest Preacher: Dotty Wilinski)

The Languages of Easter

The Languages of EasterWhat do you need to believe?  We all speak different faith languages.  Some of us just believe.  Simple faith.  Others of us need to experience God personally.  Personal faith.  Some experience God in the voices of others.  Communal faith.  And some of us need evidence for faith.  Reasoned faith.  Does God speak your language?  Find out as we celebrate Easter 2012.

Serve Sunday 2012 – The Disciple

Serve Sunday 2012 - The DiscipleWhat is my calling?  How can I serve effectively?  One key to answering these questions is understanding your spiritual gifts.  To prepare for our first annual two-week Serve Sunday series, The Disciple, we’re encouraging you to take an online spiritual gift inventory at www.assessme.org/2364.aspx.  Plan for 15-20 minutes to take it thoughtfully.  While you do not need to be a part of a small group to take the inventory, each small group in our church will be discussing each member’s results.  On Sunday, February 5th, you will have an opportunity to then make a commitment/pledge to serve in the church for the next year.  Taking the online inventory will help you make a more informed commitment.  Why serve?  Why commit?  Because that’s what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
